Sunday was our first full day in Western Kenya, Kisumu region!  We went to an Anglican church this morning; they are always several hours long but we had a great time!  The people were excited we were there and treated us with great kindness!

After Church we went back to the farm and had a great time with a large number of Enos's family!  They were gathered to help strip and dry corn kernals from our last crop and we helped with 1000's of them!  It was fun!

We also went for a walk to the end of the land we lease for growing various crops for the school food program!  It is a great piece of land and they are doing a good job with rotating the fields to keep them fresh!  Tomorrow they start the second planting with 20 additional helpers to plant and fertilize in the next four days! And the Well is working great- plenty of water for us and the whole community- Praise God!!

At the end of our farmland there is a small creek I hadn't seen before.  This whole area was jungle at one time but now little farms have cleared areas out of part of it and made spaces for their family animals and gardens.

As we were walking along and just before we got to the stream, the Holy Spirit told me to pray 'right now' for the safety of our group of 6 men- which I did immediately, but wasn't sure why. Less than a minute later, a seven or eight foot black mamba popped out of it's nest right where we were walking and flew between us faster than any snake I have ever seen before!  He went about 20 feet and jumped into the creek!

Black mamba's are the largest poisonous snake in Africa and few have ever seen one!  One bite has enough venom to kill a dozen men within an hour.  Without anti-toxin the fatality rate is 100%.  ( The picture above is not one Jerry sent - Sue found it online when she did some looking into what a mamba is!! )

I continue to be stunned by the faithfulness of our amazing God who just keeps intervening over and over again on our behalf- to protect, to provide, to do great things beyond anything we would have any right to expect or imagine!  And all for the glory of His Wonderful Name!!

It has been another long and Exciting day, but tomorrow will be even better, we get to visit our largest school (960 kids now) and see how our faithful God has been caring for their precious lives! The teachers tell us most of the kids would be sick or would perish without the food God has provided through those of you involved in this project! Instead of tragedy in these schools we see outstanding scholars with a chance not only for a good job but to contribute to the World in profound ways-  All to the Glory of Jesus!! Amen!

In His love, jerry

Thank You, Lord, for intervening in the safety of those men. Thank You for the productivity of this farm and provision of water. Thank You for the model of My Day Is About Serving and Sensing Your Guidance For My Walk With You.

Corenia and I just finished the Book of Acts on Sunday. We stopped at the part where Paul gets bit by the snake and just shakes it off.
We agreed that no snake was going to get in God's Perfect Way.

For He will give His angels orders concerning you,To protect you in all your ways. On their hands they will lift you up,So that you do not strike your foot against a stone. You will walk upon the lion and cobra,You will trample the young lion and the serpent. Thank you Holy Spirit!

Ha Ha on Satan - he didn't know there would be a man there who would respond so immediately to the Lord's instruction.
