Our first day in Nairobi we headed for Amson School in the Mathare slum. They have over 200 kids meeting in rooms that together are not as big as our Sanctuary.  They have great teachers who work for $100/month and have to find other jobs after school hours just to survive- but they feel like teaching is a calling that can change the future even if they have to struggle daily themselves to stay faithful to these dear children! Their blackboards are paint on the wall and they have almost no text books, so pretty much everything falls on the teacher. They are dreaming of having a computer, a copier and some white boards.  We are working through what we have so far and think we can help with each of these things, thanks to many faithful partners!

Jerry and Rolfe,
Waiting to hear from you. Love the faces of those sweet, loving eager learners from a former teacher. You can see it in their eyes and expressions on their faces. Praying that The Lord will provide what they need.Bless the teachers. Lots of hugs to both of you.Marilyn

God bless you and Rolfe (sp?). And all of those children, their families and teachers. God’s hand is on all of you.
Lord, please keep these souls close to you. Encourage them, and let them know they are loved and never forgotten. Keep them safe from the devil’s schemes as they grow closer and closer to you. In Jesus’ very precious name. Amen

I wish I could be there to give some computer lessons. Just to leverage the technology and love on them.

There are teachers around the world who would love to have students as eager as these. Truly sad that our students here don't have a clue as to how important teachers, resources, FOOD, four walls and support are to the learning environment. These teachers and kids are heroes in my book. I pray the Lord speeds them along their way to successful, productive and Godly lives.
