We are excited to bring you up to date about the water projects we began in Kisumu! One of the pictures shows our handsome Rolfe, who continues to do a great job, especially with people helping Joab at our new well.  Since we have been away they have hand dug this well down 48 feet! It is a small round hole that they climbed down by ropes, knowing that it could collapse at any moment, sending up buckets of dirt one at a time.  Then they built a brick wall, starting at the bottom!  By God's grace, no one was hurt.  This water is available to the whole community, which is a stunning gift for all.  It has a limited amount of water at that depth- which is not enough to irrigate crops for sure.   So the next step is to dig down another 50-75 feet to what the engineers who have seen it say is a large aquifer!  Then it will be pumped up to a large holding tank that can also receive rain water.  The height of the tank can create enough water pressure by way of gravity to distribute water to the whole farm!

Thanks to the tremendous generosity of many, the completion of this dream will come true before planting time for the next crop in September!  We have enough funds for the drilling team to come in, the pumping equipment and the irrigation supplies! Praise God!!  The large holding tank and tower are not paid for yet, around $2000, but we believe that God has a plan for that too!   People have risked their lives to make this a possibility and it appears that the mercy of God will see it all the way through to completion!  Then rain or not, the crops should be more productive than ever!  (I've included a picture of our corn fields that should be full grown by now but have not had enough water for the last 6 weeks... )

There is also a picture of the family that lives on site at our 5 acre farm- Joab, Isabella, Joy and little John...they are dear folks that are honest and very hard working! The team here also hires about 10 or 11 people that work when it is planting time or harvest

Finally, one last picture shows a few friends near  a second small well we are involved with- the water is clean, fresh and life giving for families, crops and animals...praise God for His goodness- He cares for each one's needs out of His overflowing love!
